A young man stood upon a cliff looking down at a small village. His emerald green eyes scanned the village for any guards, "None." The man adjusted his black jacket and jumped. He fell into the treetops of the forest below. Twigs and leaves were in his short brown hair but he paid no mind to him. The young man ran across the treetops until the village was in view.
He jumped onto a loft of a home. His fingers were dancing on the side of his hilt. Under the cover of night he jumped down and kicked the door in. An elderly man was eating supper and jumped to his feet and said with a mouth full of food, "What are you doing here." They young man drew his blade and put it to the neck of the old man.
"Where is it old man?" the old man struggled to cry for help but he couldn’t,"Tell me where the damn stone is!" the old man smiled. "The sun shall rise and kill the ashes." The young man was angered, "Then die." The young man slit the elderly man's throat and left him there. "I hate these pitiful creatures." He waved his hand and the building was engulfed with flames.
The young man walked through the flames of the home searching for the stone. He found nothing. He looked to the village, thoughts of destruction. "Who says I can't have a little fun." One by one he set the homes a blaze. He watched without any remorse as the villagers ran out screaming of terror. One by one as they left he'd kill them.

She knew it was late and that her family would be worried but still 16 year old Elizabeth took her time drying off before she put her dress back on. She quickly ran her hand through her wet honey blond hair and sighed. She knew that she had to head back now.
As she neared her village she heard a loud shriek, followed by tons of loud screams. She could see smoke rising above the trees so she picked up the hem of her dress and began to run toward the village as fast as she could.
As she neared she hid behind a large tree as tears fell from her big blue eyes. 'Why was I so stupid to leave my family' she thought to herself as she peered around the tree to see people running and screaming. 'I have to find them' she promised herself.

Remorse was a thing that the man didn't feel. He struck down a innocent child without emotion. "Nothing more than a nuisance in this world."
He walked the cobbled streets of the village. Searching each home for any fragments of the stone that he desired. The stone held power for this lustful creature. " I must find it!" he cried as he kicked down a broken wall.

As Elizabeth stood behind the tree she saw a man slaughtering everyone in his path. She knew she couldn't stand behind the tree any longer while her friends and family perished.
She took a deep breath, put her hair behind her ears, and quietly maneuvered her way through the trees toward her house. As she came close to her house she tripped over an object. She turned her head in fear to see her mother lying dead. She turned her head to see only a few feet away her little sister dead too.
Tears began to fill her eyes again but quickly held them back. She knew she wasn't thinking clearly but she was mad. She stood up and ran toward the direction of the man. She grabbed a rock about the size of a fist and picked up her pace. As soon as she got close enough she threw the rock at the man hitting him square between the shoulders.

The man staggered forward and grunted. His grip on his sword tightened. Who dared to strike him from behind. He turned to see a girl standing with anger in her eyes. "You dare to attack Sy of the Dracken?!" he said with shock and anger.
Never had someone strike him. Let alone a girl. He had an odd sense of humour and began to laugh at her. "what is wrong with you? Do you wish for a quick death like the others?"
Sy made his way to her. Stepping on the corpses of the fallen with no regard. He kicked one out of his way when he was but an arms width away. "So how shall it be done?"

Elizabeth knew what she had planned on doing would be dumb but it was now all sinking in. As he edged closer to her she backed up and fell over a dead body. "What do you want? Why are you doing this?" she screamed at him in anger as tears streamed down her face. She knew that she was done for, but what did she care, her whole family was gone.

A smile appeared on Sy's face as he saw her squirm on the ground, "My dear girl, I want what all humans want in life. Power!" He said igniting a small flame on his right hand. The flame danced upon his fingertips as he looked into her eyes. "These people were hiding the power I seek. Each of them had to pay the price." He said coldly.
He lifted his placed and placed it under her chin. "Besides, what does it matter to you. Just look around." Sy pulled his sword away from her. "Now go before I kill you like the rest." His gray eyes stared at her for a moment only to turn away to continue his work.

Elizabeth's mind was racing. She tried to think of some sort of power that her little village could possess but nothing came to mind. She could vaguely remember her dad and some men discussing some sort of stone, but that couldn't be it. Why would he want some sort of stone.
"So that's it?" she yelled "you're just going to let me get away?" She had no idea why she had yelled that out to him, maybe what she truly wanted was to die like the rest, or maybe she wanted to get back at him and take revenge.

He turned around slowly and gazed at her for a moment. Sy reached down and pushed her hair away from her face. "Would you like there to be more?" A battle hardened hand grasped her throat and pulled Elizabeth to her feet. "I took pity on you. Don't push me!" He let go of her, leaving fine red marks on here neck
"Get from my site or worse will be fall you then the loss of your family and friends. With the power I will gain; nothing will stop me." Sy turned away from her once again and walked down the cobbled road. His eyes darting back and forth between the fires.

As soon as the man released his grip Elizabeth fell toward the ground and put her hands against her neck. It still felt as if his rough hands were still clasping on to her.
As soon as he began to walk away Elizabeth ran toward the trees and hid behind one of them. As she peered around she saw him searching around. "I have to get whatever he is looking for first." she said quietly to herself as she began to make her way back toward the village.

A ragging fire stood before Sy, engulfing a home. The screams of terror piercing the roar of the flames. He held his hand high in the air and waved it to his side. The fire died out instantly.
"Tell me where the stone is!" He cried out. "I know that your elders had it!" A young man slowly walked out the charred remains of the house.
"We don't have it anymore! We swear by the Gods." Said the young man.

Elizabeth ran toward the direction of the man. Whatever he was looking for obviously wasn't in the other direction. She stopped behind the old remains of a house.
She was in horror as he put out the fire with the wave of a hand. Then to make it worse she realized that that was the house of some of her family's longest friends. Tears once again filled her eyes and immediately poured as the young man walked out of the house. They had always been best friends and it was a long running joke in the family that they would soon wed. Elizabeth knew that that monster of a man would never let him get away alive.
She then looked toward the rubble of the house that she was at and began throwing as many rocks as she could at the man hoping to make a diversion so her friends could get away.

The rain of rocks pelted Sy. He turned around to find the lass that he took pity upon. "You little pest!" His eyes flared up. "Tis this reason that all creatures should die!"
Sy went towards Elizabeth to subdue her when he was struck from behind. It was the young man for the house. "RUN!" he cried to Elizabeth. Sy knocked him off but was punched in return.

Elizabeth watched in horror as the two men began to fight. "I can't leave you here" she yelled as tears were streaming from her face. She knew she had nothing left to live for now that her parents were dead, and maybe even soon to be her bestfriend. She ran over to the two men fighting and jumped on Sy's back and began to hit him as hard as she could in the head.
"Go now and get that dang stone, or whatever the crap he is looking for!" she screamed as she clung on to Sy's back and continued to hit him.

Elizabeth's friend stood still. His mind and body battling each other. He wanted to stay and help her. But he knew he to help by leaving for the stone. "I can't leave you alone with this monster!" he told her.
Sy started flailing to get Elizabeth off his back. He couldn't believe the heart this girl had. Willing to give up everything with a blink of an eye. Her friend's words reach him and he stopped. The constant blows to his head seemed endless. Nothing but the constant beat of a drum.
With solemn words Sy spoke to her, "Get off my or all that you have to live and love for will end before you very eyes." He seemed to think that the man before him and her were a pair. Inseparable by the invisible bond love. Sy grabbed her arm gently as to tell her he meant no ill will.
