Shara caught him gazing at her and grinned. "He will grow..." was her only thought as she walked along looking for signs of the murderer. THen a thought came to her and she grinned and reached into her pocket and held the little black box out befoer her. "We have luck and Alchemy on our side Elric..." she said calling him for the first time by his last name.
"Climb up on a building and keep a look out..." she said and then knelt down and popped the box open. She empties the prototype stone and the shards of the other onto the ground and set the box aside. She clapped her hands and placed them on the ground and in a bright blue light the form of a dog, finely sculpted and created to look like a real one formed out of the dirt and then took off after the minor soul transfer was inplace. tHe dog raced out of the military grounds and off into the city, the crystal within it's body holdinmg both it and shara's soul in place while also seeking out the real stone, drawn to the stone like a magnet.

Edward watched in awe as the lifeless creature of Shara's design began to move. Blinking, he didn't move until it raced of into the distance searching for whatever Shara sent it after. What had she done? Alchemy like that wasn't possible to perform. Only small movements yes, but individual motion like that was unbelievable.
Ignoring her orders to get on a building he stared at her until words left his lips, "How did you do that?" Ed didn't seem to understand that she used a soul transfer technique. It was ignorence that he had, that's all that he needed. The gate had already thrown his life into many twists and binds.

"A minor soul transfer Ed..." Shara said as she climbed to her feet. "Common..." she said and then reached out and grabbed Ed's hand and led him into a nearby appartment building and prodded him up to the roof. Shara paced along the permiter of the building's roof top and then spotted the bright red glow as her stones reacted to the philosopher's stone. "Common!" She said and without hesitation she bolted down the stairs.
Within minutes she'd left Ed behind, her legs being alot longer than his. She shifted in the general direction of the flash and turned a corner to see her melted construct. the shard of the stone missing. "hmm... it's got to be somewhere around here..." she said softly and looked around.

Seeing Shara run off faster than a jackrabbit caused Edward to jump to his feet in excitement. "What the hell?" He ran after her trying to keep up. All he could see before she jumped was a flash of red light. "Could it have been that creature she made?"
Bounding down the street as fast as he could Ed kept close to her. Coming to a complete stop next to Shara, Edward was trying to catch his breath. "What's this all about? Why did you run?"

"A philosophers stone... the dead body.....was killed by a blast from a philosopher's stone..." She said, panting. "My red water stones are attracted to the philosopher's stone...That red flash.....was...was...oh shit..." Seria mumbled and dropped to her knees. "Not good Ed....not..." Seria wasn't able to finish her last sentence, Instead she passed out.

The last word slipped from Shara's mouth. In slow motion she seemed to fall. Without thought Ed caught her before she fell to the ground. "Shara! Shara!" He shook her gently to wake her up. It didn't seem to have any effect. Edward looked around for help. "Damn it." Hoisting his friend from the ground, the young alchemist ran through Central. His only thought was to get Shara to the hospital.
"Outta my way!" He yelled out frantically. The crowds of Market Street impedded his path. Pushing through Edward caught sight off the hospital. It made his heart leap in his chest. His body was tired and heavy. But that didn't matter to him. He'd risk body and limb just to help her. Bursting into the room Ed cried out, "HELP HER!" Collasping to his knee he still held on tight. Docters and nurses rushed to his side. Taking away Shara to aid.

Once Shara was taken away from Ed a nurse brought end to the waiting room. After an hour or two the nurse re-appeared and walked over to Ed. "Your friend will be just fine, she asked for you." The nurse gave him a smile and then led him to the room she was in. Shara seemed asleep, but at the creeking of the door hinges he eyes fluttered open and she gave a sad smile towards Ed.
She didn't look too bad. She had an oddly placed IV and looked rather pale. "Thank you Ed..." she said softly. When the nurse left Shara sat up and rolled her shoulders to relieve her tense muscles. "The doctors say I'll be fine... They told me it was a case of over exsaustion...but I don't believe them..."

The sight of Shara made Ed finally relax. She was alright from what he could tell. But then again he wasn't the expert. Setting down by Shara's bed he heard her thank him. Simply shaking his head at the response. "Don't thank me for anything. I wanted to make sure that you were gonna be alright." Listening to what she said Edward grabbed her hand and held it firmly, "Just...just don't let it happen again."
Ed looked her in the eyes. He had emotion building up. "It...it scared me." he admitted, "I didn't know what to think." tears began to show, "I care about you." His voice wavered. The young alchemist was finally showing an emotion to another besides his brother. He had grown attached to her.

Shara was touched at the emotion pouring out from Edward. Shar reached up with her free hand and gently whiped the tears off his cheeks. "Awwww don't cry..." She said and pulled him into a hug. Shara looked around and then smiled and kissed Ed on the cheek. Shara shed a few of her own tears and finally lay down again. "She managed to mumble another "thank you" before she fell asleep. The Nurses were nice enough to let Ed stay for the night and later the next morning they let Shara go.
Shara's sister showed up in a car and drove them back to the Military base. When they got there it was raining steadily. It wasn't a cold rain either, it was more of a nice warm spring rain. Shara staid inside long enough to grab her coat and then went back outside and stood in the rain, getting all wet. Shara brought out a chandle and set it on the ground, She lit it and held it with her ahnd over the top to keep the tiny flame from going out. Her mind went back to the time she and Ed's had meet...

Ed got out from the vehicle and shut the door. The rain hit him softly. Small streaks ran down his hair as he pulled his hood over his head. In the silence of Central thunder echoed through the streets as lightning streaked across the skies leaving a beautiful design etched in the heavens. Mother Nature's art at its best.
He watched as the car drove on to the lot, leaving Shara and Edward alone for the moment. The very sight of her brought back memories. That night over a year ago as he wondered the streets of Central. All he wanted to do was be alone; have some time to think. But instead she found him.
The Alchemist couldn't help but show a small grin as he looked at her. So many memories were made all because of that night. It was all because of the same quest they had. Or maybe it was fate. All of it didn't seem to matter at the moment. The only thing that did is they were still together. Alive, not killed like all the others who search for the stone.
"It's almost been two years to the day that we first met." Ed said with a small chuckle, "On a day just like this."

Shara looked up at him "It has? hmm..." She looked thoughtfully up at the skys and smiled "It seems like it was yesterday when we meet" Shara looked back at him and then let the candle go out. Ahe stuck the candle in the pocket of her coat and reached out. Taking Ed's hand she led him to the barracks. Once inside Shara paused and then with a swift clap she reached out and put one hand on Ed's coat and one on her own and after a breif spark of alchemy working they were dry and the rainwater pooled at their feet. Shara smiled "I believe you showed me that trick."
She smiled and flexed her fingers and then looked over at him and smiled, there was a light pink that flashed over her cheeks and then she sighed softly. She had not a care in the world as of now. That would change of course, but this evening she'd let herself be careless.

A smirk appeared across Ed's face, "I don't know if did or not." He winked, "You've learned so much in the time that we've been together it's hard to say." Edward looked at Shara and felt his chest swell. There was something in this moment that he couldn't help. The girl he had met that night stood before but it didn't seem like it. She was different, just as he.
"Shara.." Edward said almost silently, "I.." he grabbed her by the hand and looked her in the deep in the eyes. His face began to flush.

Shara watched him and when he finally turned to her and took her hand she grinned brightly. He reached out and gently ran her fingers over his cheek. She took his other hand in hers and then leaned over and kissed him on the lips, as softly and sweetly as she could manage. Shara became aware of Mustang, Hawkeye, and her sister watching them. She shifted back slightly and then let go of one of his hands and pulled Ed off to his room. Once they were alone she looked at him again, still a cherry red from getting caught kissing Ed. "You wanted to say something Ed?"

Feeling her light touch on his face sent chills through his body. Her touch felt so different from before. It was something he couldn't figure out. She leaned in close and kissed him. A warmth washed over his body. Edward couldn't believe it. The world around him seemed to change in that very instant. His faced turned beet red as she pulled him into his room. "Sha-Shara." he spoke softly, "I-" Ed choked on his own words as he tried to get them out, "I love you!" the words were blurted out like the top was burst of the top of a wine bottle. Turning away from her in embarrassment a small smile crossed his face.

Shara smiled and then wrapped her arms about him ina bear hug and lifted him off the floor. She put him down onhis own two feet again and then kissed his cheek. "Good, 'cuse I love you too..." It took a bit before the fact set in that she was still squeezing him and she let go of him. "Sorry Ed..." She said softly and then strode over to the couch and sat down. She kicked off her boots and wrapped her coat around her. She lay there silently for abitbefore remembering something and pulled out a small crystal vile full of ash.
She clapped her hands together and there was a crackle of blue and then she got up and walked over to Ed and pushed what she had made into his hand. "Consider it your first gift..." She winked, collected her boots and then giggled and raced from the room, pausing to carwheel in the hallway before racing off to meet her sister.
