Welcome to Atzlano Stables, located twenty miles south of the Jicarilla Apache reservation in New Mexico. The nearest town is about one hundred and fifty miles north on terrible roads and the nearest city is Albuquerque, an eight hour drive over empty plains. Needless to say, the place is pretty self-sufficient; something over two hundred acres of wheat (the heads for humans and the hay for horses) and even more for grazing. The owners keep a milk cow, several chickens and a goat in addition to their horses.
[[All breeds are OK and stuff]]

Thingvalla was a young horse, and an oversized pony at twelve point two hands high. He was an Icelandic pony: bred from those horses that the Vikings rode into battle. He had been a racer at three, winning the New Mexico stakes and getting a blessing from all who'd bet with him, as the odds were backed up against him so steep that they'd all made a small fortune off his victory. Now, at five, he wasn't what he used to be, but he still rode pretty well, especially with younger or smaller riders.

((Wow, didn't see this one until now. We need some more horses over in the other horse rp, 'Land of the Weeping Willow' if you want to come to that one too.))
Lisa walked into the stables, humming a tune. She was the owner's daughter and was coming to do some chores, maybe even go for a ride after. She picked up some buckets on the way to the storage room. First, she was to feed all the horses, water them, and then clean the tack. She sighed, and blew her hair out of her face. She reached into one of the stalls and patted a horse. "Hey there, boy. How's it going?" She continued down the way, stopping at some of the stalls and talking to the horses.

The thundering of hooves echoed within the distance as stone hard flints of slate hues plunged deep within the earth, causing dirt and grass to fly behind the form that soared around. Muscles moved in waves beneath the coat of such a creature, whom snorted loudly as harsh breaths of air entered and left the chest of the equine. Head bobbed in fast movement as speed was quickened, releasing a whipping mane of obsidian hues. Tassle was slightly raised, also of pitch-dark color. Then a sudden crash of booming angered echoed loudly throughout the area where she ran. Skidding along the terrain, she lifted herself high upon her hindquarters, fore-hooves slashing through the air as if to bring destruction. Body was completely covered in that darkest of the night, which was blending into the mane and banner. The dark canvas revealed nothing but a powerful build and scar among the neck. The only feature noticed at first-glance, was the golden eyes that showed a deadly dance within them. Their target remained focused on the fence which held her captive nearby the stables. Easily she was tired out for she spent most of her day rearing and bucking in anger and well as attacking the wooden fence around her. There was a day when her body was rammed into one part of the fence, trying to break it. But, she gave up as pain made her cave in, causing a bruise along her rib area. She had never been in the stables, and probably never would be for how savage she acted. Her eyes only saw people everyday, the fence, the green below her, and a sign that she never figured out why it was there. A tiny whiney came forth, peaks twitching upon her skull while her boa turned about. It was him again, the male whom always sat atop the fence. Upper body was lowered towards the earth, her head held downward in a way she seemed like she was going to attach him by ramming her head into his form. Fore-leg among her left lifted, pawing at the ground as her nostrils flared out in anger.
Green eyes stared out into the distance, watched the wild mustang do yet again, another attack. Dark hands of caramel hues placed themselves firmly onto the wooden surrounding as the Mexican male watched in silence at the dangerous mare. He wasn’t working here when she arrived, but some people here told him how deadly and hostile she acts being as she was taken from the wild only a few weeks prior to when he came. The seventeen year old sighed as the horse plunged towards him. When she was about a yard away, he lifted himself up onto his hands and flipped over to land a few feet off from the paddock. Standing up to reach full height, he seemed to be about 6 feet tall, where a plain white shirt and slightly baggy jeans of black, though they remained on his hips with a belt. His hair looked of pure, black silk that was long enough to produce spiked hair. He was clean shaven and did his best to look properly while still trying to be appealing. He bore muscles in his arms, and also for his legs. He actually wouldn’t be like that if his family didn’t work with wild horses, which they had to break. Therefore, he had to build strength to keep him from being thrown. His name was Cariñoso, meaning warm hearted. Some people gave him nicknames, so he never went by anything in particular. His main nicknames came from what friends thought about him. Now, finally getting a glance at this mare, he knew she’d be the strongest. Even of the stallions he had to break… They acted like nothing like she did. Her eyes read death, and she seemed like the horse that wouldn’t stop for nothing.
His form started walking towards her sign, which he read allowed so many times. Every so often he would look up, staring into the light, deadly gold gems of the mare, while she stared into his soft green ones. A smile only formed lightly on his lips as he whispered the information aloud once more. “Name: Diabla (she-devil), Breed: Pure-bred Mustang, Price: Not for sale at the moment, Temperament: Deadly for now, Can be ridden: Not yet.”
Cariñoso smiled. “I bet that can change.”[/b] [/size]

Lisa stopped walking when she heard the loud whinney of Diabla. She turned around to see the mare rear on her hindlegs and let out another ear-piercing whinney. She shook her head, her long, red hair falling in her face. She hated when a new one came in. She hated that her dad brought in wild animals and attempted to tame them. She had had many a fight with him over the matter. And she had spent time with this new one, and it made her feel even worse. This one was different. She shouldn't have been taken. The body of a boy in the corner of her eye made her look back up. It was Cariñoso, the new horse tamer. Lisa had met the boy, but never really interacted with him. He spent most of his time with the horses. She took one last look of the boy and Diabla with her piercing green eyes, and went back to work.

Cariñoso watched in wonder as his emerald gaze danced to and fro, the dark mare now tired and exhausted. Still, he knew approach would be dangerous for she would still fight him. He shoved his hands in his pocket as he looked down, one foot lightly kicking at the dirt beneath him. He remained in deep thought for a while till he felt something. The feeling of eyes burning into his back. Taking a quick glance back, he only saw a glimpse of the leg of a female and red hair following with her body. His hand reached the back of his neck to scratch it slightly with thought, then went back towards his pocket. 'Probably Lisa,' he thought with a small smile. He remembered meeting her at one point, but it wasn't really much except introducing themselves.
The mexican male started heading towards the mustangs paddock one more, though this time he walked to where a corner was with a bag he had with him. He listened to the nicker of Diabla as her twin peaks twitched slightly, her head lowered as eyes of cold gold stared at the bag with curiousity. Cariñoso smiled slight as he climbed onto the fence once more, bag in hand as he began to rummage through it. Finally finding a carrot, he held his hand out to see if the mare would come to him this time.
She pawed with a dangerously glance at her new tamer, though she did warm up to him slightly as he kept trying, soothing her over rather than yelling and roping her like the males whom caught her did. Golden gems spotted the tasted treat within his hand, causing a small nicker of complaints as she tried to get the male to throw it again, like once before.
Air escaped out of her chest in dismay as the male stubbornly sat upon 'her' fence, as she referred. Just like this was 'her' paddock where she would dangerously yell at the horses whom past through, like they would enter with her.
A snort came, as she held her crest tall and proud to keep a wary on her tamer. Dark flints became silent thumps into the dirt as her powerful legs revealed veins of such a workout, while the muscles of her uppper body flexed beneath her coat. Ocassionally, she would hault and rear slightly to land with a powerfull boom, showing she was in charge. But disappoint came as the male shook his head and pointed before him. A sigh was released as her boa was lowered, seeming to feel defeat at such a boy.

Lisa began filling the buckets for the horses, trying to keep Diabla's whinneys out of her head. Unable to do so, she put down the buckets and began to walk toward Cariñoso and Diabla. Knowing not to scare the horse by running, she walked, and slowed the closer she came. When she was only a few feet from the paddock, she called out to Cariñoso, "You really think you can tame her?" She continued walking toward the paddock and leaned against it when she reached it.

Diabla turned about just slight to catch sight of Lisa. At first glance, she became startled and reared up with a angered nicker before galloping off to the other side in just a mere few seconds. With an arubt hault, she turned to glare at both humans, only to spot the carrot once more. Once more, she hesitantly made her way towards her tamer again.
Cariñoso sighed with dismay as the mare ran off, only to a few seconds later, come along to the side of the paddock where he sight, watching as the angered mare calmed slightly in hopes for a treat. His gaze left the mare briefly and looked at Lisa calmly, only to return towards the black mustang. "Not too sure if I can gurantee that, but I have hopes that if I can befriend her quiet a bit, she may give me a chance to walk into 'her' paddock." He paused as the mare stopped within a yard towards the side of him, make a confused vocalization as to throw the carrot towards her. "For now, I just can wait," he called back, watching the horse taking smaller steps towards him, ocassionally producing a quiet whinney with annoyance.

Lisa laughed inwardly to herself. She had nothing against Cariñoso, but didn't want this horse to be tamed. She didn't think it was even possible, so why force it on the horse? "What happens if you can't?" She asked. She watched the beautiful horse prance around, trying to find a way to get the carrot without actually coming near the boy. "Want me to try?" She asked. She climbed over the fence to stand inside the paddock.

"Err... Lisa? I wouldn't stand within her paddock. She basically claimed this as her territory," he whispered, watching the horse's gaze leave the carrot and produce a deadly lock on the girl. 'Oh Jesus,' he thought dropping down and running in front of Lisa as the mare prepared to ram at her target. It was only then he realized the horse hesitated when Cariñoso stepped forth, and then regain her attacking stance. "Here," he quickly turned as the horse hesitated, picking up Lisa and sat her down on the fence. "Jump down out of the paddock," he urged, his eyes showing fear as adrenline that ran through his veins.
Diabla was quite suprised to see this boy protecting the girl, but also shocked at the boldness her tamer had as he stayed within the paddock. Eyes narrowed within her dark skull, seeming to pull themselves deep within as she nickered at him. He stalked him back and forth as he moved slowly to where he was sitting before. She produced a shattering neigh of anger as the female prepared to lunge at him. This position lasted briefly till he search through the bag and found a big, red apple. Now it was her turn to hesitate as he moved back to where Lisa was, stilling keeping a dark green eye upon the mare, watching her slowly come forth, though still acting hostile.
'Oh please Lord,' he prayed. 'Don't let this horse attack.'

Lisa was surprised too, when Cariñoso jumped out in front of her, and then picked her up and set her on the fence. She watched as he grabbed an apple and tried to tempt the horse, remaining in the paddock. It actually made her angry. Who did he think he was? Didn't he realize she'd been helping to tame horses since she was a little girl? She didn't need some 'knight in shining armour' to come and rescue her, she was a big girl. She jumped down from the fence back into the paddock. She grabbed the apple from the boy, and set it down in front of her on the ground about a foot away. Then she stood up and turned her back to the horse, waiting for her to come and take the apple.

The mare watched as Cariñoso through his hands up in defeat.
"Okay, I'll just stand around out of Diabla's paddock and not help," he grunted as he jumped onto the fence and leapt off on the other side. When he passed Lisa, he simply turned his head away, heading off towards his bag once more to get the other carrots, apples, and some other feed. Then he began to look around to place them somewhere where the mare wouldn't mind. Putting his hand through spiked hair, he thought silently, ocassionally glancing at the horse whom seemed to stand stubbornly at the other side of the paddock, pawing her hooves angrily at Lisa as she reared with a dark nicker toward the female.
Air blew forthing between shadowy napes, her form becoming silent as boa arched to feed upon the grass. Not being exactly use to Lisa, she made no signs of an effort to approach but rather waited for her too leave. Silky strands of obsidian night lifted upon her rear as his nostrils flared in scent of Cariñoso. She slightly tilted her head towards the side, watching him approach with a bucket that seemed to have some stuff in it, while he grabbed the bag and poured in a couple more apples, a few carrots, and what looked like a couple hand-fulls of oats. He then reached into the bag and look for something. She watched his face show dismay as if he went through another loss, but shrugged it off as he sat on the ground to think. She lowered her gaze slightly to look at him at the ground, sensing his dismay and loss of hope.
Diabla glanced back towards Lisa once more with a dark gaze, starting off with a trot that slowly became a full-speed gallop. This time, she didn't focus on the apple. She whinnied with anger that screech from her throat towards the female, rearing herself high up at her hooves threaten to smash down.
Cariñoso stood in alarm as the mare's hind legs crush the apple beneath. He bit his lip as he watched the mustang, hoping he wouldn't harm Lisa, though he was slightly upset with her. To his suprise, the mare seemed to sense that and land towards Lisa's side, ramming a little of her body weight into her, shoving the female's bulk towards the fence that read 'GET OUT NOW!' from the way she moved and bared teeth.

Lisa heard the angry cry of the horse. She turned around to face the horse but kept her eyes on the ground, so as not to seem challenging. Lisa had been helping her father tame horses for years, and had developed this strategy. She always came into the horses' paddocks and turned away, to seem vulnerable to the horse, to show she meant no harm. She waited for the horse to come to her, so that the horse would gain trust in her. Many times she had been faced with the danger of being crushed, or trampled, but she stayed in, to show the horse she trusted it.

Diabla went into a fit of anger, bucking her lower legs out powerfully from behind. She snorted violently, shoving her towards the gate with her head this time, head-butting her with more strength as her head battle its way between shoulder blades. A brief stop came as she looked up, a whisp of dark hair flying into her eyes as pupils regained normal size, watching Cariñoso as the silver bucket glistened in the sun placed within the paddock a few inches further from where he sat earlier on that day. With that, he turned his back and walked away. She knew he wouldn't leave, but something troubled him. Diabla watched his form head towards the main office. The moment his shadow disappeared, she showed high curiousity in the bucket, leaving Lisa as she trotted over like a spoiled creature, carefully examining its treats.
