Cain shepard was a tall and thin young man. He had jet black hair of an average length, and he wore the basic student Griffendor robe. He had a unique wand tucked inside his robe. It was of not any normal wand ingredeants. It was made of a werewolf fang and hickory wood, and was about 14" long.
Cain Shepard sat at the long wooden Griffendor table. It was the first day at hogwarts and all the new students were getting sorted into there houses. "Gregory Kindlebrook," Professor McGonagall said reading off of a peice of parchment in her hand. A young boy walked up and sat on the stool. Professor McGonagall was about to place the hat on his head, but before the leather brim even touched his hair it shouted, "Hufflepuff!" The boy stood up with a large smile and sat with all the cheering hufflepuff members.
Cain rolled his eyes, "Here we go again." This was Cain's fifth year here at Hogwarts. He was a chaser on the Griffendor house team as well as the team captain. For three years running he has been trying to when the house cup, but so far he's failed. To make things worse this year was the Triwizard Championship, and he wasn't old enough to compete. He looked down at his empty plate, and twidled with his fork. The first day is always the mostboring of them all, he though to himself.

A girl was watching the sorting at the same long, wooden table Cain was sitting in. She, too, was in Griffindor, as told by the table she was sitting in and the sign on her robes. Sapphire was of an average height and weight, along with some common features. Besides the long, dark brown hair she had, the girl had very bright blue eyes, which were the only feature she possessed that weren't really common in brunettes. She also had some lightly tanned skin, which brought out her her eyes, too. Sapphire had a wand which had regular ingredients and was about twelve or thirteen inches long. There was also one thing she really disliked about herself; she was a mudblood.
Yes, she was born of Muggle parents, and there was no trace of magic in her bloodline no matter what. Many people, especially from Slytherin, teased her about it. Sapphire didn't know how she managed to receive the magic when she was born, but it was what it was. When her parents found out, they more than enthusiastic about it. They really enjoyed that they had a daughter who was a witch. And a pretty good one at that. Sapphire managed to get good grades throughout the Hogwarts years she's attended, even with no knowledge of magic at all.
She continued to watch the sorting, clapping only at times when Gryffindor was called. Sure, she had made some friends besides the teasings from others, and she was grateful for that. Sapphire also wanted to possibly try out for Quidditch this year, but she still didn't make her mind up just yet. It didn't really matter, but she wanted things to do when she was bored, and Quidditch might just fulfill that wish.
There were only three students yet to be sorted and Sapphire just continued on listening until they were finally over with.

Cain looked at the three remaining students to be sorted. They were all nervous, and anxious at the same time. One stepped up, and the hat was placed on his head. It sat there and hummed. "Hmm, thinking... thinking..." it said. "Ah! I know! Ravenclaw!" the hat shouted. Ravenclaw began clapping once more. After the other two were sorted Dumbledore stood up, and tapped his cup with his fork.
The room grew silent and he cleared his throat, "As you all may know... this year is the triwizard tornament," he paused for a moment then continued, "we will be having two other schools here to preticipate." He looked toward the back of the room at the large double doors, then after a few seconds of pause they burst open, and butterfly's flew through the air as young women in blue dresses pranced across the gaps in between the tables.
Cain looked around at the other kids around him. They all seemed mesmirized by their sight. He rolled his eyes then looked at his plate. Why can't they just start the damn thing, he thought to himself. He looked down the table and saw Sapphire sitting there watching whats happening. He then turned to the other side, and watched as an owl flew from the high window. Immediatly he knew who's it was before it got two seconds in. The flying was sloppy, and not well menuvered. As it came crashing down it smashed into the side of his face. "Ow, Hey!" he said grabbing it by his feet. "Now watch yourself, you here?" He pulled a letter from it's foot. It was a white envelope, and it had the ink stamp of a red phenoix. Cain smiled at his birds clumsyness until he saw the stamp insignia. "O crap," he said aloud. A kid across the table watched as he began opening the envelope, but before he finished he relized that everyone was watching him. Even the other school had entered, but transfered there gaze on him and his owl. He placed the envelope in his pocket. "It's not important," he said to everyone. Even though it was.
(forgive me if it's sloppy, I was tired and ready to go to bed)
