Kimic blinked, "I'm..Kimic." It was odd to introduce himself to Gerwain because of what he looked like. He heard Kari's words and looked at her, "You and me both." Kimic noticed the markings of Kari and her wings. His day seemed to get weirder by the moment. She looked human, but she couldn't be. He turned his gaze away from her to prevent himself from staring.

Gerwain shook his head slightly "Thanks. I feel rather appreciated now."
He looked around for a moment. "Are you from this village and.."
"He cant be.." Kari interrupted frowning she stared curiously at Kimic "I mean..he did say..everyone had been killed..but perhaps I mean I guess it is possible.."
"Of course it is, you survived" Gerwain replied "Anyways what are you doing here?"

"I was..." he looked towards the trail, "escaping from my daily duties. I always come here. I'm drawn to it for some reason." Said Kimic quietly. Even he couldn't explain the reasoning behind it. Something always seemed to draw him here. Kimic stood up and watched Gerwain carefully.

Kari sighed she couldn't tell if that was a good thing or a bad thing that Kimic wasn't from the village.
"Do you know anything about this place?" Kari had taken over the questioning and walked up beside Gerwain. "Have you seen anyone else besides us here?" She seemed desperate now and Gerwain watched her intently.
'Don't work yourself up, he may not know anything. This place has been long abandoned' He projected the thought at her and she nodded slightly acknowledging it but still hoping.
She suddenly realized she hadn't introduced herself "I'm Kari by the way."

"All I know about this place is that the people of our village is restricted to come here. Like it's curse or something. I don't really know. No wishes to speak of this place." He shifted his feet, "No one else has stepped foot upon these grounds except me and the village sage."
He found it odd. All of these probing questions.

Kari sighed heavily. "Damn. Was it really that bad?" The question was more directed to Gerwian then Kimic.
Gerwain shrugged slightly. "I wasn't there." Kari fell silent crossing her arms and glaring at the ground crossly and trying to sort things out.
"The Sage, does he speak of this village?" Gerwain regained his position of the questioner.

Kimic sighed. More probing questions, "Only to the village elders. They hold our history. But I doubt that you could seek an audience with them. They don't speak of the village. It's forbidden." He turned away from them, "I should know. I've been trying to get people to speak of this place. It's like it's cursed."

Kari laughed coldly "It's not cursed. It was attacked. Stupid people, they know nothing."
Gerwain shook his head "Dont Kari. Kimic, Do you think we could talk to the Sage today? I'm sure he would be more then happy to tell us."

"So it was attacked." Kimic thought to himself. He turned to Gerwain, "You might be able to. He lives in a hut just outside our village. Doing who knows what." Kimic crossed his arms, "A bit of a hermit. Good luck trying to get him to speak."
Kimic turned away from them and started down the trail he came.

Gerwain blinked "You do realize we are going to have to follow you since we don't know the way, right?" he asked Kimic before turning to wards a scowling Kari.
"Come along the faster we find out more about your past the faster we can get out of here."
Kari glared at him "yeah, yeah fine"
Gerwain turned back to wards Kimic and began trotting after him.
Kari stayed behind for several seconds turning to wards the village. She shivered sightly before turning and running after Gerwain.

"I know." Replied Kimic with a cheerful smirk. Finally he didn't have to feel like a fool to them. He lead them down the trail that travelers used to take. Now it was a trail of weeds and overgrowth.
Down the hill lie a small village. Huts and small buildings, nothing but a humble village. Smoke drifted from huts as lunch drew near. Children ran through the streets as their parents worked on their daily tasks and choirs.
Kimic pointed to a rather large hut to the far side of the village. A strange purple smoke drifted from the hut. "There's the sage's hut." He noticed the smoke, "No doubt that he's trying another one of his crazy experiments again."

Gerwain nodded slightly. "Thanks a lot, If there is anyway we could repay you, we might be here for a day or two, so just ask."
Kari stared at the village then suddenly whirled around facing the path they had just took. "He's close." Gerwain's head shot to wards her quickly.
"You sure?" Kari nodded mutely stretching her wings to their full span she suddenly took flight, hovering above them for a moment.
"Gerwain, wait at the ruins. I soon as I get what I need from this guy I'll be there."
She shot off to wards the hut and Gerwain watched her for a moment before turning to Kimic.
"Sorry to be off so soon. We are grateful really, but I think it's best if you stay away from the village for the rest of the day..."
He trailed off "I must be going now. Good bye." and with that Gerwain took off full speed back to the ruins.

Kimic looked in awe as he saw Kari fly up into the air and leave for the village. Before he could say anything Gerwain took off running back toward the ruined village. With a heavy sigh Kimic sat down. So many strange things had happened to him. A talking wolf, a woman with wings. It didn't make sense to him.
Many of his questions of the village were answered by the Kari and her strange companion, but it didn't seem to add up. She acted like she was from the village. And who was the 'he' she was talking about.
"Just forget about it." he thought, "If you told anyone about this people would become even more distant from you then they already are." People didn't want to associate themselves with Kimic. Like he was diseased or cursed. It was hard for him to escape that reality.

Kari landed in front of the hut, having no time to hesitate or fix her wind-tossed hair she practically threw the door open and barged straight in.
"Hello?"
She blinked looking around then coughed as smoke invaded her lungs. She grimaced covering her mouth. She didn't have time for this.
"Where are you!" She hollered frantically and moved through the hut. No one was there.
"Damn it!"
Meanwhile Gerwain sat panting just outside the ruined village. The sun hadn't quiet made it's trek behind the trees but it was close enough and he could smell Ochrem's scent. Kari was right, but then it wouldn't be hard for her to sense him after their last encounter.

With a subtle grunt Kimic removed himself from the ground. It was getting late into the day and he had to get home before nightfall fell onto the village. He made his way down the rough trail. The village seemed almost deserted. Only a few workers walked the street. Soon the village night watch would be out in full force.
Kimic walked to the village edge. His home was nothing but a run-down shack given to him by the village elders when he was but a lad. The door creaked open and Kimic sat down in a small chair inside. He gazed out onto the village that seemed to reject him.
