Ooc: All mythical creatures are welcome, as long as they look mortal. So clearly your charecter can't have large wings.. unless they look like a costume, or are well concealed underneath clothing. You're character can be pure or mixed, as one of my characters is pure and the other mixed. Ok, onward to the rp!
Ic: A young lady walked into the room. Her icy turquoise eyes scanned the area, seeing other guests greeting and chatting with each other. Her waist length hair was pulled into a tight bun, a couple strands of hair barely covering her lightly tanned face. Christina’s blue dress had layers of other lighter blues, which went great with the color of her eyes. The fabric was faintly sparkling in the light, but she didn’t take much note of it. The dress also had thin straps attached to it. On her slender left wrist was a sapphire-colored bracelet that hung slightly.
The mortal’s lips curved into a light smile as guests greeted her and she greeted them. Christina continued to walk, though when her eyes caught to some of the couples dancing on the floor, she stopped. Her eyes glanced to each couple, seeing how much fun they were having.
Near her was her cousin, Cloud. He had soft, sky blue eyes along with short blond hair, part of his face covered by a pure white mask. His hair was combed neatly and it swayed slightly. He had on a black tuxedo with the same colored slacks, along with a white tuxedo shirt.
Unlike his cousin, Cloud was half lycan and half vampire, both traits in which he got from his father. Though his mother died at child birth, his father told him about her family including Christina’s mom, which was her sister. Christina had known that Cloud was lycan but didn’t know he was vampire also. Cloud searched the crowd of people for his cousin and found her watching the couples. “I thought I was the older one,” he said, looking at Christina.
“You are but I can choose where I want to go at anytime, not where you want me to go,” She replied to Cloud, her eyes looking at him through her dark blue mask.
He chuckled slightly and said, “Wait until your father hears that, he’ll disagree right away. But that’s because I’m suppose to look after you.”
Christina rolled her eyes and ignored the last two statements Cloud had made; now walking to a nearby door to get some air, her cousin trailed after her again.

Marisa shifted uncomfortably in her light green gown. It flowed with her slender figure, accenting her sharp emerald eyes beautifully and attracting many a stare from other guests each time she walked.
She did not feel very beautiful right then, tottering on hard, glass slippers and her hair, usually hidden behind a cap or tied back in a high ponytail, let loose to annoy her further. Not to mention she could barely breathe, even though her mask was quite simple, if elegant.
"Aric," she muttered as she gave a shifty young lad to her left a level look. The boy blushed and averted his eyes. "If I get out of this alive..." she trailed off as a pale man gave her a stare. His eyes looked at her hungrily. She quickly turned and dove into the nearest crowd, shuddering.
The music was lost on her. The shallow, whining noises seemed to her not fit to be called music. It was nothing like the days when she had roamed the Kingdom by herself, in different forms on missions assigned by the Royal Commander himself. The music of the different countries she encountered still left imprints in her mind. So had the many friends she had to leave behind.
Nostalgia hit upon her then, and she had to choke back tears.
"Stupid fool," she muttered to herself.
She resumed her search for Aric. He was half a year older than her, and since he was one of the all-human nobles invited, he had chosen her, of all people, to attend with him. Not Alessa, the court-reared lady. Not Lila, the beautiful if fiery land mermaiden mix.
No. He had to choose the shapeshifter. The scorned one. Sent on dirty missions to spy on others and risk getting killed (which she nearly had about six times) while he got to lie back, flirt with the ladies, and practice his swordsmanship once in a while.
He was a good fighter, granted; he had saved her from a great many pike-man before, and each time with good grace. Even if they had quarreled the night before over their old argument.
She sighed and cleared her mind, using a mental trick she learned from a master in the mountains. She envisioned a flame, a fire, in her mind. She fed all of her thoughts into it, all of her emotion, until she was as empty and devoid of feeling as an abandoned eggshell. She nodded to herself. Good. A clear mind succeeds past the murky one.
Even so, the evening seemed slow down. Time seemed to stretch as she wandered from room to room, jostling past people and occasionally fending of the over-arrogant young noble.
"If I get out of this alive," she repeated angrily as she all but shoved her way out of a particularly loud, grappling crowd.
She proceeded to describe, in very vulgar soldier-like terms (and not to mention descriptive), how she would torture the handsome son of a Duke once she got her hands on him.

Marisa scanned the crowds for him. She saw a few people who looked familiar; though she could not tell with the masks.
As she searched, a servant offered her a flute of wine from a tray. She took one with a nod of thanks and proceeded, sipping her drink and wondering if Aric was avoiding her on purpose.
That thought made her angrier, and without thinking, she delved deeper into the void within herself.
Suddenly, she realized that her right hand had turned all scaly, like a lizard. She cursed and quickly withdrew from the void. Her hand turned back to normal.
Entering the void too deeply would result in her shifting according to her mood-she had forgotten.

Nicolas leaned against a table, looking bored and wondering if it would be rude to swallow the roast chicken whole. Probably it would be. Humans were always jealous of things they couldn't manage. I mean, they could even unhinge their jaws. What a laugh. Oh course, some of the porky ones attempted to shove as much food in their mouth as his people did.
What kind of a man would think this, you ask? A naga, of course. A human-snake. Nico was supposed to come to this waste of time for some reason or other, but he couldn't for the life of him remember why. Something about spying for his king... he never really listened well.
The splendor of the human's great hall was lost on Nico. It was too dry, and didn't have enought jewels in the walls. Unlike the nagas underwater palace. Of course, he doubted that the mermaids constantly invaded this palace. Those jerks seemed to think the entire ocean belonged to them.
Nico had human legs for the first time, and he was greatly bothered by them. They were so weak and spindly, not to mention itchy. And how did those humans manage to stand upright, he would like to know. He was leaning on the table because he didn't quite have the hang of balancing yet. give him a tail any day.
Green eyes looked out from behind his shaggy black hair. He had to concentrate on blinking regularily, instead of moistening his eyes with his tongue. And concentrate on not hissing. Don't hiss, don't hiss....
Moving on... Nico wore a golden yellow tunic over green breeches and a green shirt. His mask was (amazingly enough) green. And scaly. He wore doeskin boots and a leather belt. His normal two-pronged dagger had been taken away, but he still carried a few normal daggers hidden on his person. You never knew when they may come in handy. His teeth were white and slightly pointed, and his tongue was forked, so he had to be careful when he was talking. he had a large nose and thin eyebrows.

Hoping nobody had seen her little-ah-incident, she glanced around. At least her face was hidden. Nobody would notice the blush creeping into her cheeks.
She had, after a while, decided to give up on searching for the wretched young man. He could care for himself; Marisa did not need an escort to leave, nor his permission.
She nodded in satisfaction. Far easier that way.
Her spirits slightly lightened, she stood up to get another drink, this time a little more willing to take in her surroundings.

Christina looked behind her to see Cloud. She sighed and shook her head. "Go have some fun, I'm going to get some air. Go dance with someone, I don't care who." She said, playfully pushing him towards the dance floor.
"I can't dance, I've told you before. Besides, your dad said I couldn't leave you alone." Cloud commented.
"I know, that's the point. I want to be alone but in order for that to work, you have to go." she said smiling.
Cloud sighed and said, "If you insist. But if you get hurt, it's not my problem."
Christina nodded and left Cloud looking at the couples, as she once did.

((I'm going to join. I'm rather new to this...so please be kind!))
A young woman walked through the crowds. She was looking for someone. She didn't know who, but she'd know when she'd see him.
She had white hair, that fell to her waist and had as much curl as a tree. She had stunning diamond-like eyes. She had a simple silver mask on her face, and she was wearing a white dress. It tied corset-like in the back, and the string that tied were a silver color, as was the see-through net over her dress. It gave her a glow, especially when the candlelight danced on the silver. Her hair was slightly pulled back. The sections of hair right above her ears was pulled back and formed into a half-circle on the back of her head. The rest of her hair hung about her.
She wore long white gloves, and silver slippers. She pushed through the crowds of people.
((I wante her t be half something. But I don't know what. I was thinking like...a mermaid? ^.^))

Ooc: Me joining also ^^
Lost. Yep. The 17 year old smiled proudly and glanced around. It had taken her nearly half an hour to come up with the right word to describe exactly what she was feeling at the moment. Well one Minuit to figure it out then twenty-nine to fall into a daydream about th word lost. Rohain sighed giving her head a light shake to avoid the boredom she was currently suffering. The half elf was dressed up made-up and as she called it heeled-up. When she stood she felt higher then she should be even though the heels only gave her another inch to her small figure.
Rohain's pointed ears could be seen poking slightly out from her straight waist length blond hair which she wore down. The Black mask with pearls and light blue feathers lining it made her big blue eyes seem brighter then they should be, as if she had been crying for several days. She was a site to see, especially when she walked. The' site to see 'indicated her movements and not her attire. The heels where impossible to balance on and she was by nature a Rather clumsy girl so put heels and clumsiness together and you get a rather funny scene. Her dress reached her ankles and was a very light pale blue seeming almost white, it tied neatly behind her neck then criss-crossed down her back. Along the bottom was a flower design outlined in silver glitter and around her waist she wore a piece of long dark blue silk cloth tied neatly around herself hanging down at a slight angle.
Her feet, which where the object of her frustration bore small silver heels, how someone could walk straight in one inch heels that where narrower then a twig was beyond her because as of yet, she was yet to master them. Rohain sighed in boredom and blew a piece of blond hair from her face then as lady-like as she could muster she scratched at her mask, the feathers bothered her horribly.
The youth was here with her human father, her mother had died at childbirth and she had been the one Rohain had inherited the her elf genes from. At the moment her father, Sir Langley, had disappeared leaving the seventeen year old sitting as close to a nearby window as she could possibly get without seeming to desperate to leave.

((Ooh! Please be a half-mermaid, it would be wonderful to have some conflict in this terribly boring scene.... No offence, Danny.))
Nico sighed and pulled a leg off the roast chicken, biting pitifully small bites out of it. Ick, what an inefficient way to eat. He glanced around again.
He had to admit though, the outfits in this palace were far more elegant than the ones in his king's palace. Living underwater tended to ruin a lot of finery, not to mention the lack of legs made for a very small population of shoes. Everyone just seemed to be standing around. weren't they supposed to dance at these things? Honestly.
Maybe if he could find a suitable partner, he might ask one female to dance. Hopefully he wouldn't trip over his own feet, again.

(None taken.)
Christina walked toward a balcony, stepping through the doors and then looking at the night sky after. Her eyes were amazed at the sight, because she could never really see the night sky in her home all day, but that was because of a family problem.
Cloud glanced around for Christina but couldn't see her. He sighed, watching the couples. He wished that he had enough courage to go ask someone, but was too embarrassed to do so.

"Roo, darling.."
Rohain blinked her child-hood nickname being called so embarrassingly across the room meant only one thing. Her father had had a bit much to drink, mentally groaning she looked around until she spotted her father walking to wards her smiling brightly. Uh-oh.
She mustered a smile "Hi daddy."
"I have you a decent dance partner!" He grinned proudly at a small man beside him.
"Oh.." She racked her brain for a god excuse not to. "Uhh I'd love to really I would, but..see Uhm I'm not feeling to well, I've gotten a bit dizzy from..err dancing!" She fanned herself lightly.
"Oh..so you have been dancing?"
"Of course!" she swayed lightly in the chair as if she where about to faint. The little man's smile faded "Thats quiet alright I'll manage to find someone else. Come along Langley."
Her father stared at her suspiciously "Alright Take it easy then." Turning he followed eagerly behind the the man..whoever he was.
Rohain sighed leaning back in the chair. "Phew"

((Now jsut explain to me how mermaids act, and we'll be covered.
XD Sorry about that.))
She glanced about, until she felt a hand on her shoulder.
Half startled, and half relieved, the woman turned to face a rather handsome, and rather drunk, man. The man had brown hair, and was wearing a suit. In the hand that wasn't on her shoulder, he held a glass of champagne.
"Joshua!" The woman said, clearly startled to see HIM of all poeple. "What are you doing...with your hand on me?"
"Oh Eleora, don't fight it. You KNOW I've noticed you staring at me this whoel time. Come back home wiff meh." He said, eyes closing hlafway, then opening really wide. He was tired, and drunk.
"I'm sorry Joshua, of COURSE I want to go home with you. First, though, let me have you sit. I'm so dreadfully tired!" She said, putting on a false smile. She sat him in a chair, and when he turbned to stare at some other guy, Eleora took off.
Eleora ran through the crowds, and wasn't really looking where she was going. She dodged several people and darted in and out.
Unfortunatley for Eleora, her nimble body couldn't dodge two people making the tiniest opening she had ever seen. ASs she came to realize this, she had to decide whom to crash into. The friendlier looking one, or the one that looked like he would murder her?
Fortunatley for Eleora, she was a quick thinker. She crashed right into Cloud, and landed on her bum. A few people stared, but then ignored her as she didn't get up. Eleora had busied herself by looking for Joshua.
